Extreme Times Call For Extreme Measures

With Memphis in May Bbq fest only 3 weeks away the contest lies in peril. As you probably know the contest is held on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River. Memphis is recording record high river levels not seen in over 80 years, and the park is in danger of flooding. Towns north of Memphis are being evacuated and the Army Corps of Engineers are closely monitoring the situation in Memphis. South of Memphis in Tunica County, the casino’s are being evacuated on a schedule starting today and will remain closed indefinitely. It’s rumored that the contest could even be moved to a safer location. You can read about the flood condition in Memphis here: http://www.wreg.com/news/wreg-memphis-flooding,0,4243755.story I’ll keep everyone posted as I hear information. Yesterday I was contacted by the tent and floor rental company and assured that everything will go as scheduled even if the contest is held at another location. Personally, I don’t think it will be the same if it’s held somewhere else… so my fingers are crossed that we still get to cook right beside the river.
