Getting Geared Up for KCBS Contest

It’s been almost 2 months since we’ve competed in a BBQ contest… and I’m itching to get started up again. Because of the complete lack of BBQ contests in driving distance and the 100+ heat, we decided to lay-low the past few months and go big this fall. Our first contest is this weekend, a KCBS competition in Cape Girardeau, MO. http://www.capejaycees.org/ Waylon and I just spent the past weekend cooking… just trying to knock some of the rust off and get into BBQ mode. After this weekend we are going to be busy. We’ve got about 8 or 9 contests lined up for the next 3 months. And to be honest with you, I couldn’t’ be more excited. This is the first year we’ve layed off for the summer months and lined-up a schedule for the fall. Usually, we are done with contests in August or September. Maybe this change will be good luck for us! I know I’m ready to take home some new trophies and collect a few more checks!
