We had some great response from Barbecue Live… and I’m so glad that people really enjoyed the class.

But there is one email that I just had to share from Jack and Jimmy from Triple J&C Cookers.

OMG!! What a weekend in Olive Branch, Ms at the Barbecue Live Cooking Class!! Anybody BBQing in backyard, amateur or even professional events that wasn’t there with us missed out on a GREAT time. Thank you Rachelle for all you did too. Jimmy Newcom and I have been cooking together for about 5-6 years. We have gotten some calls; won at some events but would then go several events without a call. (really hurts your feelings) I have been following Malcom and Waylon for a couple years over the internet and when this event came up we were excited, after some anxious moments, to get the opportunity to go.

To be able to go and literally hang out with Malcom Reed, Mark Lambert, Waylon, Boars Night Out guys Allen Smith & Jeff Toney and Danny Montgomery with Tuscumbia River Bottom BBQers was beyond our wildest expectations! As they said, “They held nothing back” They took us through strategy, prep, timing, finish, building a box for all meat classes. Being able to roll up your sleeves; put on gloves and help seemed like a dream come true. We put our hands on so many different kinds of cooking equipment; we witnessed different styles of preparation; we talked with each other about how we setup and prepare at events.

A double treat was to have Tom Bergschicker and his wife attend who are not only Yoder distributors but KCBS Judges too. If fact there were probably 4-5 competitors/KCBS Judges that added so much insight to what is expected; what they look for in the product we turn in; especially what NOT to do that will cost precious points.

On the trip back to Kentucky Jimmy and I were discussing that although we were on the right track by following Malcom and Waylon for several years watching all the videos, it would have taken years to have learned what we did in the 2 days we spent in Olive Branch, Ms. (IF EVER)

ANY BBQer’s AROUND KENTUCKY INTERESTED?

We have a venue available in Harrodsburg, Kentucky if the “Barbecue Live Cooking Class” wants to go on the road!
