I first found out about Thermapens from people talking about using them on some of the BBQ forums. Before that I was just using the cheap $5 meat thermometers. These jobs work, but the dial is small and it’s hard to read them – especially at night. So I decided to see what all the fuss was about, I was pretty surprised to find out they cost $100… but I went ahead and bought one.
And it changed the way I cook.
There is no more guessing at final temps – and with BBQ everything is about the internal temp.
I’ve had my Thermapen for over 3 years now and I’ve used it every time I cook… And I’m tough on equipment. But I’ve never had any issue and no problems out of my Thermapen. I don’t cook without it. I would easily spend that $100 bucks again.
Since I’ve had my Thermapen I probably would have ended up buying $100 bucks in cheep meat thermometers. I’ve even given several as gifts to some good friends and family.
