Most people don’t realize that you can store and freeze cooked BBQ – and have it come out almost as good as when it’s cooked fresh…. ALMOST
The key here is to keep it out of the danger zone once it comes off the cooker so bacteria doesn’t have time to grow – and then storing it properly.
You can keep pulled pork in the frig in a regular ziplock bag for about 4 or 5 days. But for long-term storage you want to use a vacuum sealer. I shot a short video that shows how I store my left-over barbecue pulled pork:
The great thing about storing and freezing BBQ in these bags is how easy it is to reheat. I like to get a large pot, fill it about 1/2 way full of water and bring it to a boil. Then I’ll cut the heat off and stick the entire – and unopened – bag in the water. Let it sit for about 15 – 20 minutes, cut the top off and your ready to eat.
The great thing is that your heating it back up in all those juices and fat in the bag, so it comes out moist and down-right delicious.
The biggest problem is finding the room in your freezer to store this much pork.
