Wood cooking pellets have been around for many years, and I see more and more teams using pellet smokers now days. There are several companies manufacturing cooking pellets, but the absolute best pellet on the market is made by a company called BBQr’s Delight.
BBQr’s Delight is located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and ran by Candy Weaver. You may have heard of Candy because she’s working on her second term as president of the KCBS BBQ Society and has been a competitor for over 10 years. Chances are if you’ve cooked anywhere in the central United States, you’ve competed against her.
I had the pleasure of visiting BBQr’s Delight this week and Candy gave me a behind the scenes look at the process of creating BBQr’s Delight Pellets.
I was amazed at the size of the operation. Her plant is a group of large buildings employing over 50 people. They bring in raw wood and transform it into various flavors of cooking pellets. Candy even has her own saw mill! One of the coolest things I saw was the robotic machine used to stack the final product. It sure beats stacking pallets by hand.
Cooking pellets are just one division of the company. Candy also makes pellets for heating homes and several products for pet and livestock use. Of course I was mainly interested in the cooking pellets.
BBQr’s Delight makes 13 varieties of pellets just for cooking. My personal favorites are Cherry, Apple, & Pecan, but I’d be willing to bet they have a flavor you will love.
