Southaven Springfest 2011

Southaven Springfest is one of those BBQ contests where all the big boys show up. Lots of past Memphis In May Champions are always there… and it is where almost every big MBN team goes right before the big show.

Because of other obligations, this was the first year my team, The Killer Hogs didn’t compete in Springfest, and I missed it more than I ever thought I would. But a lot of my buddies showed-up and a lot of them took home some serious hardware.

Boars Night Out is a young BBQ team that took home 1st place Whole Hog. I was real happy for these guys. They have been cooking for several years now and they are starting to come on pretty heavy.

Another one of my buddy’s teams is Brown Chicken Brown Cow. These guys are making finals everywhere they show up and they took home 2nd Place in Shoulder this past weekend.

A new Backyard BBQ Team, Pig Knuckles, has a lot of my friends on it – and this was there first contest to cook. They did the Backyard division and took home 4 trophies. I was pretty proud of these guys and their first contest cook.

But I also want to congratulate all my other friends and fellow BBQ’ers… 10 Bones triple finaled again, and I believe this is the 3rd time in a ROW! Those guys are hot again this BBQ season.

Yazoo took home the Grand and Natural Born finaled again with their Ribs.

That is a very impressive list of teams, my only complaint is that I couldn’t make it out there this year to compete with them!
